However, today it is what they do for people that matters much more, how they reflect and engage them, how they define their aspiration and enable them to do more. Etymology: "Brand", along with many modern-language lexemes such as English "burn" and "brandy", German "brennen", and those in many European languages based on the root "therm-", are all ultimately related to the ideas of warmth, heat, burning, etc., and descend from an Indo-European root that has been reconstructed as /gwher/. In the Old English language, the noun "brond" is first attested from the epic poem Beowulf (circa 1000) meaning "destruction by fire."
