Further information about Radstadt

Radstadt is a town in the district of St. Johann im Pongau in Salzburg, Austria. As of 2001 it has a population of 4,710. It is located at the confluence of the Taurach stream and Enns River in the upper Ennstal valley at the foot of Roßbrand Mountain. It is also a popular tourism resort, with more tourists annually than the year-round population, and has two ski-jump hills (40m and 30m high) for their recreation. Radstadt was founded in the 13th century as Altenmarkt and received town status in 1289. It was of significant value for the protection of the Ennstal Valley and the road crossing the Radstädter Tauern pass. The town has a wall and towers dating from 1289, a Gothic church dating from 1417, and a town hall dating from 16th century. Read more about Radstadt on Wikipedia
