The webcam is operated by a local amateur radio club. It is located on top of the ruined castle directly at the peak of the "Drachenfels", 320m mean sea level. This is also the location of the amateur radio relay station DB0SB.
The camera points to the construction site of the new visitor platform which will be built over the next few months.
