Kelheim is a municipality in Bavaria, capital of the district Kelheim. It is situated at the confluence of Altmühl and Danube. As of June 30, 2005, the town had a population of 15,667. Kelheim is also the site of a large Iron Age oppidum from the La Tène period, which has been tentatively identified as the Celtic city of Alcimoennis.
