:"For the artist, see Miguel Covarrubias." Covarrubias is a village and municipality in the province of Burgos in the Spanish autonomous community of Castile-Leon. It has 640 inhabitants, and it is near Mecerreyes and Hortigüela. Covarrubias is situated on a valley and through it passes the Arlanza (a river). In Covarrubias one can visit many interesting places such as the Torreón, the Colegiata or the Archive. On the other hand, one may also come to know first-hand one of the origins of Castillian Spanish and one of the first areas to be reconquered from the Moors in the late ninth century. Covarrubias is well known in Spain due to its extraordinary beauty and welcoming spirit, as can be proved by the presence of a close connection with France and Norway. Also its cuisine is really diverse: its black pudding is a huge phenomenon in Burgos province, and it produces one of the most valuable grapes and cherry harvests in Spain.
