Calella is a tourist town on the Costa del Maresme, 56 km from Barcelona, in Catalonia, Spain. It is famous for its hosting of the Calella Universities European Championships. The Discovery of Calella: The town of Calella, because of its then picturesque regional typicality, became a "lieu de nostalgie" for fin de siècle Catalan historians in search of places still rich in "catalanitat": notably Josep Andreu y Gay, Josep Esteve Bartrina i Vilaró, and Jaume Marxuach i Flaquer.
