Further information about Haar

There are several meanings of Haar: * Haar, probably a Scot's word for the fog or sea mist, but widely used along the whole eastern Scots and English coastline (at least as far south as East Anglia). * Haar, Bavaria, a municipality near Munich, Germany * a Hungarian mathematician named Alfred Haar (1885 – 1933). He has the Haar wavelet, and a set-theoretic measure, the Haar measure, named after him * Haar-like features (so called because they are computed similar to the coefficients in Haar wavelet transforms) * Often a type of calling technique used in early cultures to indicate distress, or need. The sound is made verbally, and sounds like a hollow, short, rasp—'Haar'. *German, Dutch word for Hair. Read more about Haar on Wikipedia
