Further information about Gaslight Village

Gaslight Village was a Vaudeville themed amusement park in Lake George, NY. It opened in 1959, designed by Arto Monaco and built by amusement park legend Charles Wood. The park was approximately 3-4 city blocks in size, and featured some standard amusement rides, (a ferris wheel, merry-go-round, bumper cars, etc) as well as some unusual rides. *Gas powered model T u-drive cars *A bicycle ride that went around like a merry-go-round. The bicycles were all connected together. Two people per bike, all pedaling at the same time, pushed the ride around. *Parked vehicles: The streets also contained old stationary 1920's vehicles visitors could enter and pretend to drive. *Vaudevillian play house: It also featured an adult-themed Vaudevillian play house with period can-can shows and acts. *Car collection: It eventually added a car collection which included one of the flying cars from the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang movie. *Flight to Mars dark ride.
